The Automated Hauling Permit System (AHPS) is available to all customers. To access the online permitting system you must first establish an account. To establish an account for AHPS you must do one of the following, obtain a credit bond, escrow account or an irrevocable letter of credit. A minimum credit bond amount of $1000 is required. (Note: You are being bonded for $1000 not paying $1000). If you choose to open an escrow account or use an irrevocable letter of credit you will need to determine your estimated monthly volume (dollar amount) and determine the amount you will need. We will need to have the original bond and irrevocable letter of credit on file. Escrow account users will mail us a check and on company letter head send a letter requesting the account. Please note on the check that it is to establish an escrow account.

Our mailing address is:

After your account is established one of our technical support analysts will provide you with a username and password and assist you in accessing the system. You will then be eligible to obtain permits online. Our Automated Hauling Permit System can be accessed from https://ahps.roads.maryland.gov. Please take the time to download the user manual and familiarize yourself with our automated system. Technical support can be reached at the numbers below or email at haulingpermits@sha.state.md.us or MdMotorCarrier@sha.state.md.us.
